[post_ads]There's no time like the present to get a jump-start on healthy eating. What better way to satisfy your sweet tooth but still have something wholesome, delicious and refreshing than by having a smoothie bowl? Rush Bowls is a Boulder-based restaurant specializing in smoothie bowls consisting of blended fruit and topped with organic granola and honey. Founder and CEO Andrew Pudalov has spent countless hours perfecting the smoothie bowl and now you can do it at home. He shared some great tips on how to create the perfect smoothie bowl, and even dished on how to make Rush Bowls' most popular option.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Bowl

This bowl pays homage to your favorite childhood sandwich. It's perfectly sweet from the strawberries and bananas and super rich and nutty from the freshly ground peanut butter. Topped with granola, peanut butter and jam, you'll be dreaming about having this smoothie bowl every day of the week.

What You'll Need

Bowl
  • 6 oz. milk, whatever you chose (coconut, almond, soy, hemp)
  • 4 oz. frozen strawberries
  • 4 oz. frozen bananas
  • 2 oz. natural or freshly ground peanut butter
  • 2 oz. of frozen yogurt or fresh Greek yogurt (optional)
Toppings
  • 2 oz. Organic Hemp Granola, or whatever granola you like
  • 1 oz. scoop of the fresh peanut butter (or your favorite natural peanut butter)
  • 1 oz. scoop all natural jam
Directions

Step 1: Use a Blender and blend everything together. Should be a thick consistency

Step 2: May need a spoon pour out of the blender (do not over blend)

Step 3: Pour into a bowl, top with toppings and enjoy!

Tips for Creating the Perfect Bowl:
  • The perfect bowl will be thick and creamy. To accomplish the max thickness possible, you want to reduce the amount of liquid you use, or increase the amount of frozen fruits and veggies used
  • If you want the perfect consistency for your bowl, look at your blender. A high-speed blender or a food processor work the best because you'll get an even texture.
  • Prep everything before you start blending. That means having all of your frozen fruit, veggies, milk, and toppings all out on the counter. Nothing should enter the blender until everything is ready to be quickly assembled.
  • Chilling your bowls before you blend your ingredients can result in bowls that won't melt as quickly. You can either always have a bowl in the freezer, or simply popping the bowl into the freezer while you prep your ingredients will make a notable difference.
  • Speaking of bowls, use a deep bowl rather than a wide and shallow one. Deeper bowls will keep everything closely together, ensuring that your bowl won't melt as fast.
  • Add texture to your bowls with toppings! Our favorite toppings include organic hemp granola and honey, but get creative! Throw a few nuts, seeds, coconut flakes, and chunks of fruit on top for a unique bowl each time.
